Refuge~ (machseh) A shelter, refuge, protection, fortress; a hope; a place of trust; a shelter from storms. What a picture of God and His love for us!

Kurt,

Where has the time gone? We were so blessed when God sent you to us! You were such an adorable and loveable child. You have brought us so much love, laughter and pride through the years. The distance now is hard, but you are forever in our thoughts and prayers. We love you so much and are so grateful for you and all that you are. God has such a purpose for your life, continue to seek Him in all that you do. All of our love, Mom & Dad.

Father/Son weekend…ish project!

I had this great idea to put my center speaker on a riser (tried to explain acoustical beneifits to Mom and Ashley) so it would look cool. Dad and I drew out the plans, spent FOREVER in Lowe’s searching the inventory needed items, measured twice so we cut once, and put this plan to action.

Let me just say that this thing, in true Dad fashion, is overbuilt and bullet proof. Kristin, this is a quote from Dad during the assembly process…”This thing isn’t ever coming apart; if you could pull hard enough the wood would snap before these joints would!” To that I said…(insert Tim the Tool Man’s grunt)

Seriously though Dad, I greatly appreciate all your hard work on this and expertise. I had a great time building this with you and wish you were closer so we could do more “at home” projects; I love you! I’m just sad you weren’t here for the finished product and the final assembly. I placed stained caps on this morning; so, as promised, here she is:

Ashley and I took Mom and Dad to Chimney Rock for the day last Saturday but to our disappointment they were closed for remodeling. All we were allowed to do was drive half way up the mountain to the parking lot and hike the lower trail to Hickory Nut Falls. As you can see from the photo above…I made the best of the 3/4 mile hike! I even got Mom to embrace her “rebellious side!”

Even Dad let out a little “inner crazy,” but not without my expressed consent and careful supervision! If ~~Cheerleading~~ Spiritleading taught me anything (besides humility) it’s that a good spotter always keeps their hands in their pockets!

It was a beutifully sunny day but if you weren’t careful the gusts of wind would really catch you off guard…

Hello family! Mom is here in Tampa visiting and I’m trying to convince her that though she is very beautiful, the 80′s bangs need to go So, I styled her hair and did her make-up and here is the difference. But, you know mom…”I can’t wear my hair like that”…”Oh, these earrings make me look too young”….”My roots!”…”What happens when the wind blows?”…”What about my frown lines?”…So, since mom is a fortress of resistance, I thought we might encourage her towards a little bit’o change (aka…family intervention). Look at these photos and tell mom what you like the best!

Daytona Race

Here is Dad finishing the Daytona 1/2 Marathon. He did awesome! Being at the Daytona 500, on the speedway infield, was really cool! It was quite an experience for Dad and for me. It was a beautiful day. Below is Dad at Victory Lane…it was quite an honor for the runners to be allowed in there.

Dad placed 3rd in his age division at the Inverness ‘Beat the Sheriff’ Race on Saturday. He was very pleased with his time of 25:50! His goal was to medal, and he did. I was very proud of him! Go, Kennie!!!
